Mobile C-arms divide into two generations, and that single distinction matters more than any other specification on the datasheet. This guide compares the Perlove mobile C-arm systems we distribute in the Philippines and explains what actually separates them.
The distinction that decides everything: intensifier or flat panel
- An image intensifier converts X-rays to light through a vacuum tube. It is the established, lower-cost technology, and it remains entirely adequate for orthopedic and general surgical work.
- A dynamic flat-panel detector captures the image digitally. It gives a larger usable imaging area for the same nominal size, no geometric distortion at the edges of the field, and no degradation over the life of the tube.
On the PLX118C and PLX119C the detector is 30 cm × 30 cm, and the manufacturer states the imaging area is increased by roughly 100% compared with a conventional intensifier. If you are imaging a spine or a pelvis, that field of view is the difference between one acquisition and several.
Generator power tells you which procedures the system is built for
Output separates the range more honestly than the model number does:

- 5.0 kW — extremity, orthopedic and general surgical imaging (PLX112B1, PLX112C1, PLX118F, PLX118F-Plus).
- 12 kW — heavier general surgical workloads (PLX7000B, 40–125 kV, 4–160 mA).
- 25 kW — vascular and interventional work, where penetration through larger body habitus and sustained fluoroscopy matter (PLX119C, PLX7100A at 5–200 mA).
A 5 kW generator will not do vascular work no matter how good the detector is, and a 25 kW system is more machine than an orthopedic theatre needs.

Where a figure is not published for a configuration it is shown as “not stated” rather than estimated. Ask us and we will confirm it against the manufacturer's current specification sheet.
All-in-one or trolley?
The PLX116B1 and PLX119C integrate the gantry and the imaging workstation into a single cable-free unit. That means one thing to move, one thing to position, and no cable run across a theatre floor. The PLX118WF instead uses a separate dual-monitor trolley, which lets the surgeon and the radiographer look at different images at the same time. Neither is better in the abstract — it depends on your theatre layout and how many people need to see the screen.
