How the AF-300 works

The analyzer uses Mindray combo ID/AST cards and a five-wavelength optical detection system that matches the characteristic wavelengths of different biochemical colour reactions, generating specific data points for interpretation. Each panel cell is read by a dynamic algorithm at approximately 20-minute cycles, with reported turnaround times as fast as 4 to 5 hours depending on the organism and panel. Antimicrobial susceptibility is determined using serial doubling micro-broth dilution to report minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs), in line with CLSI and EUCAST guideline references.
